Online Personals Review of Date.com

Launched in 1997, Date.com has been operating longer than many of its

competitors and offers services worldwide.  Its difficult to judge their true active membership base - but it appears from their press statements to be in the range of 1 million in the United States - considerably smaller than their larger rivals throughout North America.

Date.com offers a straight forward mix of services - members can post their profiles online, browse photo's, make contact with other potential interests.  They also have the 'Date Info.' - a newsletter and articles that has tips and recommendations for singles.

Capabilities - Date.com Dating Service

While Date.com does offer a capable post and search feature, they lack the more robust personality profiling and powerful compatibility matching tools that have made several of their larger rivals so successful.

Let's face it - every dating service offers at a minimum the ability to simply post photo's and browse the member database.  What makes a dating service useful is the ability to go deeper - to proactively identify and suggest likely matches across a variety of criteria that's based on lifestyle & interest types -- and Date.com seems to be behind the competition in this area.

Editor Rating:

Compare Date.com to other Dating services

Benefits:

Very basic online dating

Pro's:

Membership costs are low - from $0.25/day.  Some articles & tips are useful.

Con's:

Small membership base

Limited capabilities

Lacks comprehensive compatibility matching

Overall

A very straight forward singles database search service.  Doesn't offer robust matching abilities.

Editor Recommendation

Other dating services rank substantially higher in capabilities and features that are the building blocks to help you save time and cut through the clutter of thousands of potential singles.  Until Date.com improves their capabilities, we recommend you consider your options with other providers.  You may also review our Dating Service Comparison guide.

The small active member list is also a concern - with just over 1 million active members in North America - they are considerably smaller than their larger rivals.  This makes your pool of potential singles in your area potentially much smaller - reducing your odds at finding the right match.
